New Option for BMW 5 Series: Multifunction Instrument Display

An optional feature that will enhance operation of the automobile in all BMW 5 Series models (except BMW 520d EfficientDynamics Edition and BMW ActiveHybrid 5): the multifunction instrument display. This is a freely programmable cockpit display that introduces a new dimension to driver information. Enhanced Black Panel technology opens completely new possibilities for the display of information.

Via the high-grade, homogeneous black surface of the 10.25-inch display, the freely combinable instrument integrates significantly more functions than the conventional instrument panel that it is replacing. However, the familiar arrangement comprising four round instruments still remains. Two chrome rings, which open up towards each other, are visible on the black surface. Together with the displays for tank/oil temperature they remain visible on the display even when the ignition is turned off.

With the aid of the Driving Experience Control function, the COMFORT, ECO PRO and SPORT modes can be clearly visually differentiated from one another on the instrument cluster. Whilst in the COMFORT mode a conventional arrangement of four closed round instruments is to be seen, in the modes ECO PRO and SPORT the rings open up to display additional information between the two round instruments. In the ECO PRO mode the rev counter becomes an EfficientDynamics display, showing how efficiently the vehicle is currently being driven.

Here the instrument panel shows the extended range based on the adapted driving style. In the SPORT mode speed is only displayed digitally via a large figure in the centre the speedometer, whilst the selected gear is clearly displayed in the centre of the rev counter. Besides changing colour, the displays in the instrument cluster provide additional tailor-made information such as status and function displays, check control and navigation data, all of which can be individually accessed as required.

Saw this early this morning! Couldn't believe what I was seeing!! Is this a press car or something? Guy looked like he was a Hells Angels rider or from ZZ Top Driving it haha. I couldn't ever get in front of him to take pics because of traffic, plus I didn't want to cut him off lol. I followed him until he went in the direction of "Tail of the Dragon" and I had to be somewhere else. Of course I was NOT in our M6...that would have been too convenient

I wonder if this will STAND UP in court?

"Man sues BMW, alleging motorcycle seat gave him two-year erection!"

Commercials for erectile dysfunction medications like Cialis end with a warning that individuals should contact their doctor if they have an erection that lasts for more than four hours.
After 20 months, Henry Wolf decided to contact a lawyer instead, claiming that the seat on his BMW motorcycle gave him an erection lasting nearly two years. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that Wolf filed a lawsuit against BMW North American and Corbin-Pacific claiming that the "ridged seat" on his 1993 motorcycle left him with mental and emotional anguish after allegedly causing an extreme case of priapism, also known as a long-lasting erection.
Wolf "has been experiencing continuing problems since his motorcycle ride," attorney Vernon Bradley of Sausalito wrote in the lawsuit, which was filed in California Superior Court in San Francisco last Thursday. "He is now unable to engage in sexual activity, which is causing him substantial emotional and mental anguish."
Bradley said the alleged case of priapism began after Wolf took a four-hour ride on his motorcycle.
As those erectile dysfunction commercials so regularly note, priapism can technically be onset after just four hours and is generally considered an emergency medical condition. The condition is named after the Greek fertility god Priapus, who is commonly depicted as having an unusually large erection.
According to USA Today, Wolf is seeking monetary damages for lost wages, medical expenses, emotional distress and "general damage."
The All About Bikes blog notes that there have been several instances alleging erectile dysfunction as a result of narrow motorcycle seats but that this appears to be the first case where a medical condition with the exact opposite effect has been alleged.
Florida radio station WWJ Newsradio 950 spoke with Michigan Institute of Urology's Dr. Michael Luts who said there is "no medical data" to support Wolf's claim, again citing the evidence that riding a motorcycle for an extended period of time typically works against the body's ability to achieve sexual arousal.
"It's been long-known that compression of the neurovascular supply to the penis—if it's compressed for a period of time, whether it be on a bicycle seat or some other device—it can actually cause prolonged numbness of the genitalia," Lutz told the station.

Those that have followed Ms Boss's posts on Facebook have seen a lot of these pictures, but I thought I'd post the project, start to finish, here for those that haven't.

We had a completely unused tennis court (neither of us like playing) and decided to put the space to a better use. Here's the starting picture with the net down and some layouts drawn in blue paint.

First order of business was to add some power. Our neighbors were great! The pole that was in their yard came down and everything was run underground.

Goodbye, tennis court!

Footings for the garage dug, rebar in place and ready to pour.

Footings poured and foundation in place. The concrete box in the picture is the drain for the "wet side" of the garage...the car wash side.

I think I saw a post or two about some of you guys who have driven at CMP. I am going to be there in a couple weeks for a competition and really need some pointers if you got any! Any secrets to that track, or even a video of you driving in the M6 would be perfect! Top speed you can enter at each turn, etc. I couldn't find anything online, so thought I would ask here. Thanks!
