I returned the 328i loaner today and exchanged it for my much inproved 645. In addition to regular service and replacement of a DSC sensor (the Dragon won), the car was upgraded to 25.02. This is my third software version and by far the best. The look and feel is improved over previous versions and the execution speed is much better. If you do not have 25.02, find a way (ask and ye shall receive) to get it.

My upgrade to 25.xx is in process. I assume I'll get the latest. They couldn't finish the process in one day so I've got an X3 loaner for the weekend. It's not bad, being virtually identical to my own X3 but its an odd Titanium Silver over Beige and smells like an ash tray. I should have refused it but didn't think the smell was that bad at first.

My main complaint to get the CIP update was CD/iPod run-on but I also have throttle response and cold starting issues I hope it resolves. The main reason I want the update is to get the alphabetic POI search. That feature was in my 2002 M5 and the 650i Nav isn't very useful to me without it.

Does anyone have the details what has been fixed/changed between 25.01 and 25.02?

Not me, GT.

Richard - IIRC, didn't you get the "Drive Control Sys" error like Dave and I on the Dragon? Have you had that fixed? Dave and I both have had DSC sensor replacements for the error. Funny thing though, I had the error 3 times but my post-service reports indicated only 2 stored occurances of the error. I also complained of the CD run-on issue, among others, to get the 25.02 upgrade.

No SIB exists, at least not yet. No reports of real fixes by users either. My guess is it was a fix for the upload process or other "housekeeping" tasks and not directly related to vehicle fix. If I find out otherwise later I'll let you know.

I am thinking of bringing in my 6 for the latest update this week. I have not had ANY updates since I bought the car. I have an Oct 2006 build (so Mal tells me, but we know how bad his eyesight must be at that age) so I am guessing that I will see tons of new stuff since it will be about 9 months since the initial software install.

I guess I will just tell the dealership that my CD plays on and on, so hopefully they will fall for that and give me a free upgrade so I can go out and :race: :racer: :race: but I won't be shifting! (sorry Rick).

I listed an issue with the Nav...screen goes blank with changes on occasion. My SA gave me a copy of a TSB that said it was a problem with the Navtec disk and not the software, so don't use that one. You can also complain about the Nav pop-up arrows or the slow response of iDrive, which I did. So, the CD run-on and slow iDrive response got me the upgrade. The CD run-on is specifically addressed by 25.xx so that alone should do the trick - but add slow iDrive response for good measure.

So will I automatically get the most recent upgrade? :o How will I know if the upgrade I am getting IS the most current? :o Isn't there some special paperwork I am supposed to ask for so I know the current version info, etc? :o

:bang:

I feel like I am having my first child! :bounce: :smokin:

Ask for a copy of the Measures Plan and Final Report. My invoice ($0) specifically stated an upgrade to 25.02, but if yours does not, Dave can decipher the codes on the MP & FR to determine your software version.

Everybody should be able to decode now that I have posted the list in this forum (although I did not include 25.02 yet, as Boxy pointed out to me).

OK, great. I will make sure to ask for that. THANKS!!!!!

So will I automatically get the most recent upgrade? :o How will I know if the upgrade I am getting IS the most current? :o Yes, as the software is downloaded online from BMW where you always get the latest one. I second the recommendation regarding asking for a hardcopy of the upgrade protocol from the programmer device.

CobraDav;
Have you heard this one? Months ago I installed the iPod adapter from EAS myself. Per BMW, they need to encode the computer with iPod recognition in order for it to work properly (shut off, allow the CIP upgrade, etc). They are charging $275 for this!!!! Is this highway robery or legit? I thought my '06 was fully iPod ready.

Boxboss;
I didn't receive the steering sensor error. The only issue I had the weekend was the flat tire warning and shredded RFT tire.

I got the TPM warning yesterday myself, but the tires looked fine, so I just reset it and it never came on again. I noticed when the screen came up that all four tires showed "green" in the iDrive picture. Wouldn't one of them been a different color (Red, perhaps) if it was low on air?

Isn't it working? The only issue older models (I thought per '06) was they needed MP3 capability to work before this MOST iPod install would work with no intervention required by BMW. If your car came MP3 ready then this should still be the case. If not I would have them do the MP3 retro fit which should be done under warrenty at no charge.

Let me know and I'll equip you with the latest MP3 SIB and another on upgrade charging.
