BMW announced yesterday that the planned production of the BMW X1 has begun at the Leipzig plant in Germany. In the next weeks, European dealerships and other distributors will receive their first X1 demo units.
The official launch is scheduled for October 24 and according to sources close to BMW, pre-orders have been more than satisfactory for BMW. The E84 X1 SAV will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in two weeks, a world premiere of the final production model.
The Leipzig plant currently produces 730 vehicles per day and runs at full capacity. It will be interesting to monitor the activity at the plant if the BMW X1 sales are exceeding their forecast numbers. In the beginning, out of 730 vehicles built there, 75 will be X1 models. By the end of the year, BMW expects to produce 300 X1s every day.
