Is this a beautiful car or what? Where has the styling gone from the e31 and classic e38 7er?

Sorry Boxy, but that’s not the 850CSI. Your picture seems to be an early model regular 850i/850Ci. The lower bumpers and M mirrors are not right.
This is the 850CSi but many later 8 series could be ordered with the M bumpers and mirrors anyway. So one way to check is to lift up the hood and see the M badge on the V12 engine. Thus the 850CSi was effectively the “M8” although it was never badged as such.
Interesting fact: the 850CSi punches out 380 horses ~ 280kW of power and 520Nm of torque, which is nearly identical with our very own E63/E64 650i at 370 horses ~ 270kW of power and 490Nm of torque. Now, the 520Nm of torque from the 850CSi should ring a bell to those of us familiar with the E63/E64 M6, because they are identical; although obviously at different rpm. So there you have it: the 850CSi has the same power as the E63/E64 650i and the same torque as the E63/E64 M6 (at different rpm)!
I wonder if that is a coincidence or part deliberate by the BMW engineers. We should feel proud to own BMW’s large coupes. It has such pedigree.

I see where to put the oil in!!!
Talked to a former BMW mechanic today who works at my favorite gun store. He said the 8 series would automatically roll up the windows over 130mph to keep the back glass from blowing out. Anyone here heard that?

Yes, that's true about the automatic window roll up. Note that the 8 series was a pillarless coupe too.
I like guns too. I shoot Kangaroos dead with them.
What about you M6D? You go pig hunting?

Been hunting once. Didn't take. Not much of a challenge when they can't shoot back.
Sad thing is, I'm the third best shot in my own house. :ball:

Ya, it was a slower speed tho. Buddy of mine was driving his father's 1991 850 and told his dad that there was an electrical problem in the car because the windows rolled up automatically....his dad put his head in his hands and said "how fast were you going"...
my buddy said "uh....highway speeds"
His dad said again...."how fast were you going?"
my buddy said "uh...I was trying to keep up with traffic"
his dad said "how far ahead of you was the traffic?"

It's really 90 mph as I have verified in three different 850s.

I bet he doesn't know how many bottles of Scotch Commencer will consume this weekend. They don't teach them how to count that high at NASA!

I dont' think Graham’s number would even hold a candle to the number that Jorge is going to make this weekend.

yup - same pricipal as the Prius.
As quoted by you: http://www.bimmerdrivers.com/forum/showpost.php?p=43457&postcount=26
Back of the napkin calculations... (using Georgia Excel to confirm :thumb:)
It *IS* possible for someone's beloved Prius to break 100 mph. It's an easy mod... Add a stabilizer wings before you attempt this at home.
Drive the Prius out of the back of a C-130 at a minimum height of 1703 meters. Aim straight down.
Terminal velocity of 182.7383 m/s is reached in 18.627 seconds, the equivalent of 408.7 mph.
