Ludwig Willisch, the Head of the BMW Motorsport Division, has stepped down from his current role effective immediately.

The new Chairman of the BMW M Division is Dr. Kay Segler, a former Vice President of the MINI brand. He will assume the new role during one of the most challenging times that BMW has ever been in. His previous positions include four years as brand manager for MINI and a period as director of the BMW Group’s regional office in Singapore.

Maybe he didn't agree with the future M direction. Who knows.

He wouldn't be the only one, you know, all this turbo charged stuff.

Wow, sounds quite pathetic really, I'm sure there must be lots of infighting within M based on the change of mission statement being obviously pushed down from the most senior levels at bmw ag...this says it all, they are going smaller and choose the vp of their smallest car group to shake things up at M...it would be a big deal if someone senior within M was named as successor, but for it to take place like this is very ominous :electric:

:stupid: If the current philosophy were to be continued, then as you say, a senior M manager would have been promoted to the job. This tells us a new direction is in store and also that is wasn't one senior management at M ageed with.
