As I recall GM owns either 49% or 51% of GMAC..they sold a part of it

Exactly!!! Thats the next step for the US government - A bail out of a German company with US tax payers money.
Believe it or not, it it true for the Spartanburg plant. The Greenville news stations were reporting that BMW would indeed get into the available bailout money since they are manufacturing cars in the US. I don't know where they stand now, but don't be surprised!
