This was an awesome race even though :bmw: didnt do that great. A night grand prix is an excellent idea and I think the fact that it was in the middle of the city made even more exciting. Seeing the aerial shots of the lit skyscrapers in the background and the cars moving over the track on the highways was great :bravo:

Overall this season is turning out to be phenomenal and even though the 2 usual teams are contending for the championship, the fact that BMW is still in the race to win the driver and constructor championship shows how much the team has improved. We also had so many new drivers stand on the podium and win their 1st... post Schumacher F1 is growing and evolving :woot:

It was different for sure. The night aspect was much better then I thought it could be. Unfortunately, I think for obvious reasons only the "street" circuits will be able to do this night thing. I say unfortuate for two reasons. Street circuits are just not as conducive to racing as are the other layouts - little passing - you are just more or less stuck in line unless you get the lucky (or unlucky if you are Kubica) bounce of the Safety Car action. And second, probably cannot be applied properly to an good existing circuit so few opportunites additional night action on these as it sure worked out well. I heard very few negatives coming from the drivers and even less from anybody else.

The street circuits definitely have less passing but the team strategy becomes so important that it creates a different sort of excitement for the viewer. Also, seeing the camera shorts from the drivers perspective is amazing. Everything seems to be happening faster (even though the speeds are often slower) and the walls look like they are about to "jump" at the cars because the track is so narrow in certain areas :wow:

I hope that F1 keeps adding new and exciting tracks to the season :thumb:

Nascar has done night racing for several years. Lowes Motor Speedway was the first (I think). You should see the lights and mirrors set up.

Night street racing is more challenging, I'm sure. I did watch about the last 20 minutes of that race. Its defintely worth doing more night races.

The track was so well lit that several drivers said that on most parts it was as bright as during the day. During the practice or qualification, the commentators mentioned that the thousands of lights are all powered by diesel generators. That made me wonder, how many gallons of diesel did they burn to keep the track lit most of the weekend?
