OK...just to be 100% clear..the chrome you see on the gear shift, cup holder and steering wheel are on my 2008 650i and I assume for all sport auto's 2008 and forward(unless BMW is making a change for 2009)

I can send you pics if you like..the 08 gear shift was the new sport auto gear shift and I would guess it carries over into 09

I got Maple Wood color..looks great with light interior(not the very light color on 07 and earlier models)

Until we hear otherwise, BMW pricing material says Sport and Indy cannot be combined...maybe that's the reason? :dunno:

Unfortunately my story continues.

:)

I had him run the numbers with just Sport, no Individual.

Most of us assumed that would knock it down by $11,000 and add $3,900, respectively.

Remember, the payment on an overinflated $97,000 MSRP was $1850.

This change only reduced my payment to $1650.

I asked him why. He said because with Individual, I was only paying for 40% of the $11,000 as its a lease over 2 years. I only pay for what I "use".

So the idea that omitting the $11k Individual would reduce the payment dramatically, turns out to be incorrect.

So if I want a bare bones 2009, Im looking at $1650.

That's only with HUD and Premium Sound.

No other options like Heated Seats, Lane Change, Night Vision, Cruise Sensor, etc.

If I want to add any of the other cool features, the price just goes up from $1650. Doesn't seem like we're knocking this down too much after all.

He said the car I wanted he wouldn't even order for the lot, as it was too "bare bones".

WTF...My 08 650i Barbera Red, vert, maple wood, dakota leather, HUD,Prem sound, sport package, auto tranny,CA, Sirius, HD radio..pretty sure that is all the options..MSRP was 92K.....I neg. price to 4K off...88K..3yr lease and 36000...1313/mo

I realize yours is a 2yr lease at 15K....but $1650..watch the numbers carefully

Him: "The individual is only upping your payment by a couple hundred dollars.

Remember, the payment on an overinflated $97,000 MSRP was $1850.

They are consistant - you shouldn't be suprised. 24 months x $200 = $4800 or about 40% of $11k + interest as he said.

As nealh said, and I totally agree, unless you have a compelling reason to not get an '08, get an '08 at the special lease rate - especially if you are deciding against the insanely expensive Indy. Starts at $1009/month. SP+PS+HUD is $5400. Over 24 months, that will add ~$240 getting you in the $1250/month range. Remember, for each $1000 you add (options, extra miles, previous lease payments) you'll add about $50/month to your payment. That's a "rule of thumb" to estimate and not a quote.

It also seems the "chrome" shifter that you wanted is on the '08's. You don't want an Indy paint color either. Think about it.

He did say that if I went with a 3 yr lease, it would knock it down to around 1350 a month.

Keep in mind he's running this based on 2008 lease rates and residuals. Nobody at BMW has the numbers for the 2009's yet so even he said he's taking shots in the dark on that.
