You beat me to the post. a friend pointed it out to me this afternoon.
My X3 should qualify although I seldom have a passenger.

I wonder if this affects ones sent to down under? Happens to the best for them,I've got a couple of safety recall stickers plastered on my e39.
I read one of the other links on that page http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/2008/01/nhtsa_bmw_airbags.html
And Steve in Leominster, Massachusetts crashed his 1997 BMW 540i into a concrete light poll while traveling at 25 mph.
Shit! The same system is used in my 5 series, half the reason I got the car was the SRS system fitted to it was class leading at the time and is supposed to good, now I'm reading this crap!
I'd like to think they'd go off, but it's one of those things I'd rather not go down that road if you know what i mean.

Is this why the "Airbag is off" light is on while there is a passenger in the seat!!!!!
I've mentioned this to the dealer both times my 5 series (that i traded my bastard 645 in for), has gone in for service. They had no explanation for it.. but did say they told powers that be.
