I wanted to know as BMW enthusiasts how do you guys feel about the Nissan GT-R which is being compared to the BMW M3. The car as you know is extremely fast and has a 0-60 of 3.2 and in the latest Top Gear episode lapped the track right behind the Ferrari Enzo. I want to know how to BMW enthusiasts feel about a car that is priced the same as an M3 but competes with the likes of a Ferrari Enzo and Porsche Carrera GT. I for one Love BMW obviously so don't get me wrong but I think the M division has to step it up a notch.

I think it's pretty ugly. Yes, it's fast. But so is shot from a shotgun. If it handles well, that would be a bonus. But I wouldn't be seen in anything so ugly.

I haven't developed Mal's level of sophistication yet, obviously.

I've always like rice-burners, Skylines in particular. I think this car is a tour-de-force that will put the heat on other manufacturers to an extent. Beautiful car imo.

:stupid:

I'm sure you can attach a huge engine to a piece of :sht: and it would be faster than a Veyron...but what is the point of that?

Not only do I find it hideous looking but also the fact that it's a Nissan makes me say :shake:. Just like Pumpkinbimmer... I mean, Mal said, I wouldn't be seen drinving one of those things.

I would rather wait and spend the money for a nice quality brand car like the Enzo or the Porsche GT, than waste money on that thing.

As far as the M3 comment, I do agree with Bear that the M division COULD step it up a notch. Not really to compete with this thing, but to just evolve and improve. I don't think comparing this car to a high quality car/brand would be even appropriate (no matter what the technical specs say).

There! I said it!

:shitfan: kind knight, do not even breathe the word Nissan in the same thread as :bmw:.

There is NO comparison. period. its a nissan! i dont care how fast it may go, who would be caught in that fugly ting :nono1: I dont need to play PS3 inside my car, dont need to see 10 video game screens inside the car, who the hell needs that bs when you're supposed to be concentrating on driving :shake:

and, not to kill the buzz, but it doesnt compete with any Enzo or C GT! :electric: Just because it has similar stats in limited testing scenerios doesnt put in on any realm that is associated with true race cars that are street legal. And let us not forget that as much as we(I) luv the Enzo and C GT, they are already OLD!!!! If you read up on the 430SCUD, u will find out that it is beating the Enzo, in fact the article writer in MT believed that Ferrari is holding back on the stats for the SCUD because its an 8 cylinder that beasts the mighty 12 so they dont want to dis on Enzo until they have another 12 that can beat the SCUD. And this nissan thing is no way shape for form in the class of the SCUD!

I think that the fact is that performace is already out of hand for US streets so I dont have any issues with what ///m offers, there is no place to use 75% of the cars potential in any meaningful way, so the numbers gain is at an overthetop level already, imho.

What we are looking for from :bmw: is to lead the way with new technologies in terms of efficiency and WEIGHT REDUX!!!! You dont need 550or 600HP if they can knock 500+ pounds off of each of their cars, its just simple math, less weight with the same power and more efficiency = winner and market leader. :electric:

I think the M division has to step it up a notch.

I think the Nissan brand is good and to bring back the Skyline and to the states is good for all the power hungry folks who will end up in a wall, or crying cause they can't afford replacement tires, service fees, brakes, etc...:greenlaff:

But on the other hand, it's fast as hell and many owners will enjoy it's 0-60 stats but never drive it in conditions that support their claims. These cars will be limited in its first year's production of about 1100. It will be nice to play around with them on the road or track but somewhere, somehow, the owners of this new Nissan 3.8tt litre tonka-toy will receive increasing amounts of good joy, just like the Corvette fans. It's just a different kind of car.

Oh, should M Group step it up? Yeah, I would like for the Motorsport division to lighten the M cars ~500lbs and provide two engine versions.

BMW Motorsport, are you listening?

I'm detecting a wee bit of BMW snobbery in this thread. Complacency and elitism can and will get it's ass handed to it from time to time.

:stupid: All the more reason for BMW to really focus on the competition - be it a luxury brand or not. OTOH, the only "race" I'll ever be in is with my friends on the ToD or Cherohala. I'd much rather do that in a BMW that looses to a GTR or Z06 on the track or 0-60 than vice versa.

BTW, there should be general agreement that the handling of the GTR is fantastic. It's one reason it gets such good times on the Ring.

well said boxy - although i doubt the GTR has the same driving experience as the M. nothing feels like a BMW when pushed to the edge...

Right! Plus, do they even make N driving shoes?
