We have already seen the new 7 Series and the 3 Series Facelifted version featuring the new revised iDrive system. In a recent U.K document release , BMW has announced that the new 1 Series will be getting the new iDrive as well.

We announced earlier this month(new iDrive 1, 3 and 7 Series), that U.S models will be receiving the same treatment and today, to our surprise, some marketing photos popped up on a BMW related forum.

Pousa13, a member of 1addicts.com, has posted some photos of a 1 Series convertible sporting the new navigation system along with the new iDrive setup.

Unfortunately, we are not 100% sure if any other models will be receiving the redesigned iDrive system, but we did quote one of our sources in the past, that stated the existing 5 Series will not receive the new system. Once again, BMW is known for changing things around pretty quick, so depending on when the exact new 5 Series release date might be, there is a possibility the existing 5er's will be equipped with the new iDrive.

In the mean time, the 1 series fanatics will enjoy the new navigation system.

Thanks again for the tip Jeff and also thank you to the 1addicts friends.

A little off topic. I think the 1 series' interior looks odd. It's small to begin with and so all those Bangle creases and crosses just make the interior dash control area too busy looking, disjointed and not pleasing to the eye. I think it may have looked pretty when the designing team drew it on paper, but when production compromises were made, it all looked a bit weird at the end.

I agree. The whole interior looks askew to me.

Sure, why not? Why should only the elite have to suffer?

Not sure the Mini is a series. It's just a British/Now German Made piece of engineering...

Per http://www.bmwarchiv.de/e-code, the Mini does have series codes (R instead of E).
