Latest reports confirm that the new BMW M3 E92(coupe) CSL will be released in 2010. Just a few weeks ago, a M3 CSL rendering was posted in a German magazine and we were quite impress with the results. As expected, the car was also spotted on the 'Ring back in March, during some early tests.

Now, the guys at MotorAuthority are reporting an early 2010 launch. The M3 CSL will replace many of the original M3's parts with carbon fiber and carbon fiber reinforced plastic in order to reduce the weight by at least 200 lbs.

Many other changes separate the CSL from the regular M3, things such as a fully reworked suspension, a 50hp increase to nearly 470hp, and stickier tires on special wheels all combine to offer real-world performance improvements. The expected price is around the $140,000 mark.

The 2010 BMW M3 CSL is expected to go from 0-60mph in 4.5 seconds, with a top speed of 186mph.

I like thing like this!

The current M3 (Heavy by some standards), still beats the C63... Guess what, the M3 CSL will rock the Cradle! BooYaar!!:greenlaff:

Oh, and I think BMW should shave off 400+ lbs. See I told ya, 3er owners are never satisfied!:greenlaff::mal:

I guess I just don't get it. Are people really gonna pay $140K for a tiny M3 when you could get a nice roomy M6 for that price?

Yep! Just because... Look at those who bought the C63. :wow::wow:

At the Canadian Grand Prix, I met a Hamilton Merc FanBoy (I am a BMW FanBoy)LOL... We talked for a bit and he says to me, "I love the M3." "Yeah I know the M3 is better..." "In fact, I would buy one but that C63 is AWESOME..." "Gobbs of power, I am going to get it."

I say, "The mind is a terrible thing to waste.":greenlaff:

:nono1:Not in the US!!!! The price is for a euro car...

BMW NA would never price an M3 at this price, and remember, just because the ROW gets a CSL, that dont mean we get one here, we MAY eventually get a 'competition' package near the lifecycle infusion timeframe, if at all, just like in the e46....:loco:

FWIW - those pics of that red M3 with M-NW 4585 plates and two different sets of rims (whatever test mule that might be) are from... September 2007!

The E46 M3 CSL remains rare. Examples of those for sale right now show quite heavy depreciation because nobody wants them now. But they were initally bought very quickly brand new by hardcore drivers. I guess that will be no different with this new CSL.

I sure hope the performance numbers are wrong. 200 pounds lighter, 50 extra HP and a slug like (relatively speaking) 4.5 0-60. The M3 as is has gotten a 4.2 0-60 and the C63 3.9. If it can't beat that it's not worth having.
Heck, folks can get 4.7 0-60 out of a 360hp 550i that would weigh 500 lbs heavier than it.

IF it had those specs AND could break < 4.0 0-60 AND had much improved handling, it would be worth $100k - $110k. I don't think it would sell well if more than the M6 unless it was REALLY special on track (ie challenge the GT-R 'Ring times, etc).
