BMW 335d in the final testing stage

Source: Jalopnik vis Bimmerpost

Earlier this year, we exclusively announced that the BMW 335d will be launching in the U.S in mid October. A few months later, an internet rumor was going around about the possibility of a delay and the 335d's launch being pushed back to December.

The recent spy photos (see below) show the 3 Series diesel being almost ready for the scheduled launch in the Fall. One of our sources confirmed that nothing has changed in the inital BMW's plans and that we will most likely see the car in October. We're waiting for a second source to confirm this though.

Our dear friends at Jalopnik had someone confirming the fall launch, so all the bimmer fans might actually see their dream come true: the first BMW 3 Series diesel in the U.S. Another interesting fact about the U.S version of the 335d is that it will have less ponies and torque, compared to the European version: 265hp vs 282 and 425 lb-ft vs 428 lb-ft.

BMW will use twin turbochargers–a small, low-pressure turbo to aid low-end acceleration and a more potent turbo to help at higher engine speeds. The 335d is expected to go from 0-60 to in 6.2 sec and the fuel consumption to be around 28 MPG combined.

In the mean time, the fellows at KGP Photography managed to snap some new photos of it.
