It has been a while since photos of the next generation BMW Z4 have surfaced onto the web. Our dear friend Rich from AutomotiveTraveler spotted the 2010 BMW Z4 somewhere in the Californian desert.

Sporting a different camouflage than the Z4 seen at Nurburgring , the test mule is still heavily covered and the fine details are well hidden. As far as the exterior, one major change from the current model, is the introduction of a retractable hardtop, similar to what Mercedes-Benz has in their SLK models.

We know by now that BMW will be shifting the production of the next generation BMW Z4 back to BMW’s Regensburg plant in Germany instead of the current Z4’s production base in Spartanburg, South Carolina, so we expect more photos to be seen soon.

With a retractable hardtop, me think it would look very sexy. :woot: It may well be my second BMW car alongside the next 6 or 8. If the GINA thing is anything to go by, I quite like the overall shape of the GINA. I think that has strong hints of the next Z4.

Thank God BMW is not considering manufacturing the GINA in Virginia!

I still can't picture it...:shake:

To me, as it is in the test mule, it screams: "Holly Mitsubishi* Batman"!

*Mitsubishi = Honda, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Whirpool, Black & Decker , whatever...
