I just love all these iDrive stuff. Once you're used to it, you won't go back to dash board buttons.

BMW is catching up to Nissan. A friend just bought a Murano that has all those features, and a few more - iinm. They've set the bar low enough, though... I'd love a new M3 with the new tech toys.

I would imagine that the new 7 series will posses a NAV system almost as technologically advanced as the 2006 VW.

Oh yeah you picked that up! Well, those of us who have the XBOX 360 will understand exactly where the proof lies.

Microsoft izz in the automotive tech industry big time.

Maybe. But look on the bright side: the screen is now bigger for those with less than perfect eyesight (for example, the elderly and other folks including me), prettier colours, faster response and lots more functions. I can impress my non-BMW friends even more now, along with the V12 etc.

They do auto stuff, but i don't know if there a partner of bmw.

JAVA is old news (2001) version of iDrive. Version two is Microsoft. We had this discussion and discovered this on the very old site; Bf.c
