For those that hate 22s, imo these look pretty slick, im sure some of you will agree.

While some of the designs are pleasing to my taste, they all appear a bit large. All of them seem to be screaming look at me! When I wear a tux I don't put on chrome shoes that pull the attention of the viewer down to my feet. It's a matter of taste, to be sure, but that's my primary reason for demure wheels. I don't want them to overwhelm the rest of the car. In my view, the wheels are a part of the whole, not the center of attention by themselves. And, I did buy my 6ers for comfort and performance, which you have admitted on another post have been compromised (although you said that wasn't important to you). You must have great roads up in Vancouver. Being :old: I am afraid that if I drove a 6er with 22s in LA my dentures would fall out all the time, to say nothing of my wig being jarred loose.

I hate to say it, but I tend to agree with Mal. I think a 20" wheel looks good on this car, but much bigger than that looks a little out of proportion for the 6er.

But, opinions are just like a55holes...everyone has one!

In the end, you should always buy what YOU like and what works for YOUR individual situation.

And most stink! <- Edit: If I recall correctly, I first heard Willie Stargell, a hall-of-fame Pirates baseball player say that years ago!!!

I have to agree that 22s are a bit big and overwhelming on the car.
I did really like the styling of the Asanti (20s?) in your other thread. I'd like to see a pic of them on the car.

For me, 22's are definitely a bit large in that they distract from the overall beauty of the car. They are mis-proportionate to the rest of the vehicle's design and creativity. IMO. Wheels can go too far to say "look at me". And 22's fall into that catagory. Around these parts of California, 22's on a 6er would be considered a bit "Tijuana". Which is OK for some but not others. What is really interesting is that a mere 2 inches can generate so much discussion and emotion. It reminds me of another "2 inch" controversy. :bluelaff:

I believe that 21' wheels are not very popular due to the limited choices of readily available tires. Is this true knights?

I know that 21's are not welcome due to tire options issues, but thats not an issue since you already have PS2's or Conti's with the exact sizing, why need more tire variety?

On the other hand, 21's are most preferable by BMW tuners in germany (Hamann, ACS, Gpower, Hartge, ...etc)

I have 20's on my 6er. I like the look, but I wish I didn't have all that ugly wheel gap  .

I REALLY want to lower it, but then I hear from many how the performance will suffer as well as possible damage to the car over time. As it stands now, at stock height, I often scrape on speed bumps and dips in the road. I can't imagine what would happen if I lowered it. This is one of those situations (like wanting 22" wheels) where it is the "look" I want, but I am not sure it is worth the trade off in handling and reliability.

I am still amazed that BMW chose to put non-removable "stuff" under the front of the car that is so low that it scrapes even before you lower the car.

Bear, this is the first time I've seen your vehicle. For such a level headed conservative guy :greenlaff: , this is quite a flashy car. And an M6 vert to boot. I like it. Sure is shiney and clean too. :carwash:
