Thought I'd share with you fellow :knight2:
While the 6 is in the shop (still not finished today, will get back on Monday), I've been driving the Roadster. What a car - I used almost a whole tank today driving around enjoying the top down. Managed to steer with the throttle a few times (Not sure what that's called - power oversteer?) Sick acceleration, still has good grip and handling. I miss my little baby - I need to do this a few times a year. With all the weight I'm losing, I fit better in it, too.
On a technical note, I got stuck in some Friday afternoon traffic on the way home, and stalled out a few times while stopped. Engine was plenty warm, clutch was all the way in, still noticed the RPM drop to 750, then 500, then off. Kind of in waves... Any idea what this means? No trouble with shifting, and none of this at speed. Just when I was in creeping traffic.
In the pre Bill Gates days that would mean you were running too lean. Don't know what it means now. But your roadie needs an attitude adjustment of some sort. Probably not a big deal.

6, this same thing used to happen to me allot, until I took my 6er back to shop for a checkup. My SA told me right away to change gas that I was putting in (I used Mobile and BP religiously on all of my :bmw: s). He told me to start filling her up with Shell. I never seen this issue repeat again and my wife's X5 now performs better too. Try it. It helped me, may be it will help you too. :dunno:

VR - do you think it may have been the particualr gas station(s) you were using rather than the brand? I used to use Amoco but now use Shell and Chevron 100% and haven't seen a bit of difference in any of them.

No Boss, my wife and I fill our :bmw: s at different Shell stations, but still get the same results. Again, I don't know why, or what causes this, but we both are very happy with the end results.

I actually was talking about when you were using Mobil/BP and had problems - but you probably used different stations then, too. :dunno: At least your problems are fixed and maybe it will work for 6D, too.

Now that you mentioned that, we did use same gas stations (Mobile and BP) since they are right across from each other and near by our house. Maybe you're right. But still, my SA says that BMWNA recommends Shell as a brand of gas for :bmw: s. :dunno: I know that my RPM are steady and my issue with idling is gone.

Maybe 6D is driving to Chicagoland to fill up at your old stations? Just in case, you'll want to stay far to the right side of your lane...

:greenlaff: However, it's going to be nearly impossible as all of our highways are filled with :scared: huge potholes and everyone driving like they are on the obstacle course. :race: |:| :race:

Isn't there also some frequent white stuff complicating the matter (of driving in Chi town)?

Provided that you DO stay on the right of the double yellow AND you're fortunate enough to have the photog take a picture of you doing so as proof.

May be a coincidence, but I filled up with Shell yesterday; no problems since. Let a neighbor drive her last night and it scared the hell outta him.
