Thought I'd share with you fellow :knight2:

While the 6 is in the shop (still not finished today, will get back on Monday), I've been driving the Roadster. What a car - I used almost a whole tank today driving around enjoying the top down. Managed to steer with the throttle a few times (Not sure what that's called - power oversteer?) Sick acceleration, still has good grip and handling. I miss my little baby - I need to do this a few times a year. With all the weight I'm losing, I fit better in it, too.

On a technical note, I got stuck in some Friday afternoon traffic on the way home, and stalled out a few times while stopped. Engine was plenty warm, clutch was all the way in, still noticed the RPM drop to 750, then 500, then off. Kind of in waves... Any idea what this means? No trouble with shifting, and none of this at speed. Just when I was in creeping traffic.

Your air and fuel mixtures are in an imbalance.. :race: At high revvs you're fine since waste is not accounted for but at low RPMs (1000-0); idle engine state, this is when waste becomes most impotent... I spelled that incorrectly on purpose.

Use the following product on a near empty tank.

6, this same thing used to happen to me allot, until I took my 6er back to shop for a checkup. My SA told me right away to change gas that I was putting in (I used Mobile and BP religiously on all of my :bmw: s). He told me to start filling her up with Shell. I never seen this issue repeat again and my wife's X5 now performs better too. Try it. It helped me, may be it will help you too. :dunno:

Hmm..I am very cautious with Shell..they had an issue in FL with their gas ruining engines and they refused to do anything..wish I could recall the details

I will till someone can prove that Exxon/Mobil are a problem avoid Shell..they supposedly fix it the problem with the gas, and after I think the State Attorney General got involved they offered compensation

Is this wirh all of Florida or a select set of counties? Were the engine problems only BMWs? Here in NJ/NY/PA, I have not heard or read any such engine issues you describe in your area... Perhaps, it was a bad mixture that made it to your state. Perhaps there were other variables that enhanced issues with these engines...

I am curious to chat about this if you like but start a new thread if you wish...
