:-o That's awesome. This could help us all with door dings, plus the convenience of it... Thanks for the "good find", Lord Bear. :thumb:

Note the customizations required. The mirror is moved to the door post. The armrest is moved to the seat. I bet power window controls have to be flush or moved. The under pan has to be redesigned. Any cabling/brake lines that run under the rocker panel have to be moved. Very expensive! And only applicable to frameless coupes/verts (like the 6er).

BTW, for the youngsters out there, did you know that GM did that for station wagon tailgates in the 70's? If I recall, it compromised rear space (higher loading floor, no under floor storage, etc), and was unreliable.

I like the house they drive up to. Kinda looks like Spyder's new garage, but on the small side compared to Lord Wyldfyre's place.

I'm somewhat :scared: that in a BMW enthusiasts forum, nobody has mentioned the Z1 regarding this topic yet! :youbet:

Although its an old technique, it never got popular. Maybe coz of implementation difficulty aside to maintenance.

Do you? I don't like it. They look about as weak as a Coca Cola tin can. I prefer conventional doors. With all the electronics and safety devices in our doors, I don't think it would work at all.

:bravo: Good point. But the Z1 doesn't look very inspiring.

I like that. Very cool. I wonder how much weight it would add, plus by eliminating the B pillar i wonder if it loosen the ride at all.
