Hmm, maybe back in the OLD days (Mal, care to shed some light on that?) but not in 2008.

A new car with a factory paint job can be detailed the moment it is rolled out of the manufacturing plant. Cars that have factory paint jobs are cured at much higher temperatures, sometimes as high as 300 degrees in special baking ovens. At a factory level, the car goes through the painting and baking process without any of the rubber, plastic, and cloth components installed. This is why they can expose the car and it's fresh paint to such high temperatures. These high temperatures and special paints used at the factory level insures the paint is fully cured by the time the car is completely assembled.

So get out your ZAINO and make that baby GLISTEN!

In the old :old: days you had to wait a month. Especially when there was something touched up. Not anymore. A week or so should be enough. Then follow Bear's details for how to give it a thousand dollar wax job, spending two thousand dollars of your own time.

Thanks guys

I would love too....but as I have alluded to my back can handle the bending for a car wash...

I used to wash/wax my old 96 A4 weekly...but if I hunched over even for a few minutes..I pay the price....

Hmm..maybe a few meds can fix this....

So clay bar first...then a "paint cleaner", then wash then Zaino???

Since, my gift basket never arrived I have to tell you that Zymol would suit your 6er better.

Wash with Zymol, dry with Zymol, Carnuba with Zymol and touch up with Zymol.

THREE SIMPLE STEPS to obtain a true Award Winning Zaino show car finish. With regard to all Zaino products... Use VERY sparingly—a little polish goes a long way!

Step 1—STRIP THE OLD WAX
Wash the car, going top to bottom, with Dawn Ultra® liquid detergent.
Thoroughly rinse the car with a pressurized hose and spray nozzle. Make sure all detergent soap is gone. Leave Dawn in the kitchen since you'll never use it again on your car.
Dry completely using only clean, soft, absorbent towels.

Step 2—REMOVE CONTAMINANTS AND PREPARE THE SURFACE
Feel all paint surfaces. They should be glassy smooth. Contaminated rough areas are quickly minimized using Zaino Z-18 Claybar™ and a soap and water lubricant. Re-wash and dry the treated areas.
Look for hazy paint, swirl marks or fine scratches. Imperfections are reduced using Zaino's Z-PC Fusion™ paint cleaner and swirl remover.
Add a light coat of Z-AIO™ to all paint as the foundation and bonding agent. Remove with clean, soft towels.

Step 3—APPLY AND REMOVE ZAINO POLISH
Z-2 PRO™ Show Car Polish is for paint with a clear coat finish—virtually all modern cars.

Spray a little Z-6 Gloss Enhancer™ on your Zaino Polish Applicator. Apply Zaino polish to the paint. Use up/down motions on vertical surfaces, and front/rear (front to back of car) motions on horizontal.
Allow the polish to dry and chemically bond on the entire car for at least fifteen minutes. To test for dry, wipe an area with a finger. Dry polish is slightly powdery and comes off with one stroke, revealing clear dry paint underneath. Low temperature or high humidity can increase drying time up to two to three hours. Remove the dried polish using high quality towels.
When all polish is removed, spray a light coat of Z-6 Gloss Enhancer. Immediately buff dry.
*Important: Shake all products well before using. Keep applicator damp with Z-6 Gloss Enhancer.

Thanks

I read somewhere that Dawn was not recommended as this can strip something off the paint surface...clear coat or something??...you are recommending as a one time Dawn wash
If I never waxed the car...I have no idea if the dealer did(I kinda of doubt it)..would the Dawn still be necessary

One more thing..where is the best place to pick up Zaino

The only thing Dawn removes, aside from dirt, is any previous wax or sealants. If you plan on using Zaino, you should, as Bear says in the initial step, wash with Dawn anyway. That way you will know for sure than any previous products have been removed, and that is essential for Zaino to bond correctly.

Zaino is not available at stores...online only - http://www.zainostore.com
