Let me ask you something gman...
Will this model (the one we are talking about) replace this other one?
No, our E82 will not replace Europe's version (E87) I believe... They love those hatches.
I know this one is not offered in the US, but will it be replaced in other countries? Will this little shoe keep going? :dunno:
Happy to say for the Europeans, the 1 Series that debut almost two years ago now will remain intact.
Thanks gman.
Actually, that little "shoe-like" 1 series is very popular in Mexico as well. It is of course the least expensive BMW there. Here is a list of options and prices offered there:
(Price in USD includes tax and state fees)
120i manual $27,900.00
120iA $29,400.00
120i Dynamic Manual $29,700.00
120iA Dynamic $31,200.00
120iA M Sport $33,400.00
120i M Sport Manual $34,900.00
120i Style Manual $31,600.00
120iA Style $33,100.00
130i manual $41,400.00
130iA $42,900.00
130i M Sport Manual $44,200.00
130iA M Sport $45,700.00
I personally dislike it, but I was very curious to see if it was going to be replaced.
Thanks again.

I posted the best one I found...
Not sure what to make of this but I spoke to my salesguy yesterday and he stated a lower allocation of 1 series then expected.
He was told by BMWNA the number of 1 series units for the US has been cut in half.
In the worse " Salesman Speak " I ever heard he stated a very small profit margin as the main reason.
I'm looking for a deal for my son, but I sense dealer mark-ups, and low availability.
Anyone have any FACTS about projected sales numbers.

Most 3er owners (90:100) are bare bones configurations. I suspect (95:100) 1er owners will be the same for various reasons.
Facts about projected sales numbers is the following... Limit the supply (First batch) aka allocation, so that you can sell everyone while increasing dealer profit some 8K-10K with moderate options (See above quote). Now the Stealers Jedi mind trick :electric: is to get you to believe the 1 Series will be hard to get, thus having the insanely desperate go out of their way to buy one of these Gems. Do not be fooled Doctor Z. I know with your wisdom you know this, so I offer you a biscuit.
If you find yourself having trouble getting a 1 Series, come back to the KoTR and give us a shout. We'll get you or your son one of those 1ers for sure!
Good to have you back.
Thanks Gman, I'll keep you posted.
I personally would rather he get a 328 Ci for close the money a nicer ride IMHO.
But he is ga ga over the 135 , he says "dad it's like your '75 2002" , yeah smooth Mickey real smooth.
I would like for him to demo a 128i at least for interior space, my dealer will have one in a couple of weeks and one will be at the Cleveland car show at the end of the month.

One thing is for sure. BMW lost a lot of the early 1 Series shipments on the cargo ship mishap. That shouldn't impact total annual forecasts but it delays the start of normal volumes. I also bet it also gives dealers an excuse to jack the prices for a month or two.

BMW buys insurance to cover the financial lost of shipments destroyed in transit.
I drove the 120i hatch (steptronic) several weeks ago when my dealer loaned me one after dropping my 650i in for service. Nimble and handles well. Really made me think what the very new 135i coupe would be like to drive, which I'm sure will be a blast. As for its interior and comfort, obviously no comparison with ours.
(I have now driven the full range of currently numbered BMW models: 1, 3 sedan & coupe, 5, 6 and 7).

I;m sure they were financially covered but if it was 400 cars and 100 were 1 Series, it will take them a while to make up that shortfall of supply.

You accepted 1/5 of what you had? I would never allow them to give me a 325i when I dropped off my 650i!

You must be a very tough :old: beastard of a customer!

Thank you 650iOzBoy for your appreciation of the 1 series. Next year when you drop your 650i for service, please let me know, so that I will personally ensure a Rolls Royce Phantom for your amusement as the loaner vehicle for that day.
