Something that has really been catching my eye recently, consistently, are the white/blueish illumination lights over the license plates on some of the new cars. Consistently it seems to be on the Lexus vehicles. Especially when the car is black, at night, the rear plate lights being that color looks just downright classy. Very nice. I spoke to someone who I think was only guessing, but he says I can just swap out the bulb for a more white colored bulb. Im not sure its so simple. Anyone know what those Lexus have in back? Is it just a blue/white bulb or are we talking a special LED Xenon somethingoranother?
Also - am i able to easily swap out these lights or do I have to bring it to the dealer...
Thanks!

:dunno: Never (!) really thought about that one. I'll take a look tonight.
I noticed it at the rear of the Lexus IS 350. Because the Japanese appear to be the first to do that, it does have a very Japanese look about it. Just like BMW was the first to use LED light rods, first wholly on our 6er, and partially on other BMW models (even before our 6er), it gave it a very "BMW" look. Our LED light rods look stunning and I think it's a bit of a mis-match with the white/blue number plate lights hovering near our bright red/orange LED light rods. The Lexus IS 350 does not use LED light rods, just normal bulbs, I think.
With brighter lights, people have better visibility to your plate details.
Get these :

You won't be disappointed I got these from Bimmian for my other car and they sent out 2 wrong bulbs, I told them and they sent out a full new set. :bravo:
once you go ice white you'll never go back, although in fairness it's only likeminded individuals like our selves that will notice!!!

Oh... :ymca:
has anyone bought the kit from bimmian for their e63 that '6er' posted? looks good but I dont know how difficult it would be to install all the bulbs....
also, does anyone know what size the 6 series license plate bulbs are?...i know there is a new led version bulb that just came out that alot of e46 owners are getting, apparently the size is 39mm....are we the same?
thanks

I changed the interior lights to my last car and it was a great mod. I've been putting this off for a while and this thread pushed me to get on with it. I'm really excited about the license plate lights. I really like the look on the Lexus'. after they're installed I'll try to put the before and after pictures.

I am not that interested in the license lights but I am very interested in the interior lights. At night when I hit the button the puddle lights on the mirrors look pure white and I love the color. Are these the same sort of halogen bulb? I have wondered how I could get the interior lights to have that same color as the puddle lights. Has anyone had experience with the bimmer kit or for that matter any other light kit? Do these bulbs give the same effect as the puddle lights?
It's true. After you have experienced pure white at night, you never want to go back. I don't know why the inside halo lights are so dull looking. On the Merfrigerades-Benz, too.

I would bet that they are LED. Just do a cross reference of the number and install some LED equivalents. Should do the trick.

I have no idea what you are referring to with this. I see absolutely no correlation between the two, nor do they look inappropriate together.

Exactly. That is the color of the plate lights, and it looks phenomenal. Even alongside all the others on this vehicle.
