Got this in my PM inbox at Bimmerfest this morning:
You have been banned for the following reason:
Poaching...
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
How ironic, because the date I would ever want to go back to is Bimmerfest: Never. :)
Those guys suck. I have participated in good faith on at least several BMW boards (e90post, Bimmerfest, KOTR, and others), and freely shared information about cars, crosslinked to other forums, and discussed life in general, but I've never been banned for sharing information before.
In particular I like to think I've helped a lot of people by posting suggestions and advice at Bimmerfest, e.g., recently adding some detailed additional instructions and advice in the iPod install thread (which recently had the "-CobraDav Rocks" part of the title removed, I noticed).
Anyway, before now I never had any negative feelings about Bimmerfest. But now it's time to start blogging and telling my BMW-owning friends to avoid Bimmerfest at all costs. Spread the word across the Internet that Bimmerfest is a censoring bunch of PR1CKS.
I say, we don't need to waste anymore time on those guys, lets all move on to bigger and better things.

Thanks for the kind thoughts. You're more charitable toward others, and I appreciate that. But I'm still totally hacked off though because I've spent many years contributing to their site.
If GeneArch had sent me a PM saying something like, "Hey, we know you've been a valued member for years, and we appreciate your contributions to our site, but we really don't appreciate you sending PMs to other Bimmerfest members or poking fun at our board", then I would have complied. Maybe even apologized for kidding around. I'm a reasonable guy.
But the first I heard about their displeasure was to be banned. Permanently. No warnings, nothing. Just banned for life, end of story.
That is flat-out insulting. So again I say, %&#$! GeneArch and Bimmerfest. Push me Gene, I'll push you right back.
Lots of people read more than one BMW forum. Time to start posting on other BMW forums about how sucky Bimmerfest is. Time to start creating sock puppet accounts on Bimmerfest and PM-ing *everyone*.
BTW, does anyone have any anti-Bimmerfest stories they can share? I'd like to start collating them on my blog. Then I'll have a handy link that I can point people to in Bimmerfest PMs and in other boards' posts.

A friend on BFC told me about a thread started over there yesterday that lasted about 60 seconds before it was deleted.
It was a follow up to the "Is this the only decent 6'er forum"
The new one was called "Is this the only decent 6'er forum - take 2"
The post read "Reminds me of the old razor blade, um, the "censormatic" I think it was."
The thread was gone before anyone could respond.
I wish I could have the last word and close threads. Or better yet, just obliterate them. That way the remaining board members can wonder what happened and be filled with misinformation.

Ha, that thread "is this the only forum" was what brought me here. I guess I somehow read it in the minute or two window that it was up......great place over here. I gottta get some pictures of my baby soon!

Yes, you do! We are picture whores.
SSR, my biggest mistake, and this was back in the initial days, was "apologizing" to GeneArcher for blasting him in regard to CD's thread being hacked. You may notice that post is still in place while all the criticizing posts have been removed. :finger:

Well, there's no question in my mind that Gene bought into the BS when an honorable guy would have flipped them bird and left like we did. Like SSR, I was really not interested in the site any longer anyway. Pretty funny situation.
