Saw this on a website while Googling something else. Anybody here anything about this?

It says, basically, there is a recall of almost 30K 5ers and 6ers built in 2006 and 2007 that have (potential) stalling problems in freezing temperatures.
I don't know if it is legit, but I might speak to my SA and find out.

News from Bloomberg, said that, BMW ( Bayerische Motoren Werke ) AG is recalling 29,250 5-Series and BMW 6-Series sedans and X5 sport- utility vehicles...
I don't have to worry - I don't have a 6 series sedan. :greenlaff:
This one has been discussed before; I'll see if I can find the thread. Dealers are installing new grounding cables to corrrect the problem.
Edit: Cobradav posted the SIB for this issue and started this thread http://knightsoftheroundel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=404#p5283

I had that done to my 650i and it did seem to make a difference in cold start idle and throttle response consistency. I have no clue about winter driveability since I did it in the heat of summer. Last winter, my 650i never saw temps below the high teens but it didn't have any problems.

I'm sure it's a generalization and not specific. It's the kind of weather that makes one get a static shock when touching doorknobs or other metal objects. Cold, low humdity, you know the type. A cold 35 degree rainy day - you'll be OK, but if a very dry front comes through and the temp is 38 - you could have problems (although, not you Bear, you don't have the N62TU engine  )

Kinda of old news as the SIB was released back in July, although updated in October. I'll include the update here.
There is another "cold" weather SIB bit not a recall. I also include it here.

Just dropped mine off today for a brake fluid change but no mention of recall, although we don't too many cold starts here in CA. I'll ask about it when I pick it up.

Sure enough, when I picked up the 6er on Friday they installed a new ground strap per SIB12 10 07. Once again Cobradav is all over it.
