Saturday was a busy day for me. First I had M6 (OEM) wheels installed. Then I drove an hour to RMT (Rocky Mountain Tint) in Livermore to get my 650i tinted with ceramic film (Pinnacle's FormulaOne). I went 35% all around. The guys there were awesome - they stayed open late for us on Saturday to accommodate us and Justin (the son in this family-owned business) gave us a ride into town (and back) so we could use our 3 hours in Livermore more effectively.

It'll be a few days before I can clean the windows and up to a week or two before the tint is fully dry, but so far it looks awesome. It's warranted for life and RMT is so picky and professional I know that if any problems do crop up that they will take care of them pronto.

I'll post a pic soon. I think a nice (tasteful!) tint can really do wonders for the aesthetics of a car. I expected to be impressed, but I was more impressed than even I thought I'd be!

Enigma's avatar doesn't do his car justice. He has tint all around and it looks very nice.

Lord Cash, did you tint your car to hide the bundles of hard cash that you are transporting between locations? I suspect so.

I see the light or I mean the dark!! Thanks

Very nice, I think I am going to tint my M5, I was going to just leave but I am getting the itch. Had my 7 lightly tinted but I will black out the M5 if I do it, we will see how it looks.

I seen your 5 and G's 7 I think. You guys represented the sedans very well for us.

Anyone know a good place around Atlanta to get tinting done? Enigma's was awesome - I think it looks great on black cars.

I love my 15% tint:

Got ceramic Formula 1 tint so it doesn't interfere with my interior Sirius antenna, etc. Otherwise, normal metallic is more common and cheaper.

That look is clean man. I think I might try a 15%.

Yeah, it looks great! I went with FormulaOne with the 35% because I wanted less chance of having issues with the "authority figures" (as I have tinted my front side windows, which is pretty much illegal in California) and I wanted to not have blind spots and other problems at night; the 6er rear window, though large, is steeply raked so visibility isn't the greatest even without tint.

I went with ceramic for the reasons you mentioned: no chance to interfere with Satellite radio, radar detector, cell phone or Comfort Access (all of which I have - so why take any chances? For every one person who says they have no interference problems with the above with metallic tint, there is another person who claims the opposite. I just didn't want to take chances for the $100 (or less) price difference).

Do you have any problems with the police hassling you/ticketing you with the 15% on the front side windows?

I got pulled and let off with a warning once while driving in the city at night, but it was more because my friend was driving a bit aggressively (I had a few drinks, riding shotgun). But other than that freak occurrence, no problems. Every state is different, so your mileage may vary. 35% all around is the law in NC. I had 35% before and it's barely noticeable in the daylight, I figure if you want tint, get something darker. Plus, I prefer the privacy. Haven't had to deal with state inspections yet, but that'll be another challenge. Despite all that, I think it's worth it!

How much cooler in temperature does 35% bring to the car? :dunno:

Here is a picture with the 35% all around tint.

The sunshade is open, so it is letting in some light from the roof. With the sunshade/roof closed, it appears darker than this. I'll try to post some other photos later on.
