View Full Version : Tinted my 650i
Thanks! I like the Stratus Grey a lot, too. I was very conflicted about the color but ultimately I (obviously) got the Silver Grey. They are both nice colors. I like your wheels. Are those OEM or aftermarket?

they are both great colors for sure, and depending on the lighting they often look the same...the rims are OEM but made by BBS, and they are my winter setup (yes we do need such things in this part of the world!!!!)
they are style M184

Here is a picture with the 35% all around tint.
The sunshade is open, so it is letting in some light from the roof. With the sunshade/roof closed, it appears darker than this. I'll try to post some other photos later on.

Congrats! tinting looks fantastic! and hey! the rotors look terrific! I guess ill think again in getting those rotors for my ride, they will look even clearer with my 21's
Damn those are nice wheels, Stratus.

Thanks Malibu ! yeah they are cool, abit bright though, but useful when seen at night, and when you're driving, the spokes partially disappear and you only see the rotors !

Thanks! Yeah, the M6 rotors look really good (maybe not quite as nice as Brembos - but pretty close) on the open wheels. Although I put the rotors on when I still had the "flower power" Sport wheels (and you couldn't even really see them), I knew that shortly I would get some kind of open wheels that would show off the rotors - and I wanted to be prepared! :)
Your car is quite awesome, Stratus. I love your wheels! Also, I am curious to know more about your soon-to-come backup camera...I started a post elsewhere (viewtopic.php?f=12&t=473&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=20 (http://knightsoftheroundel.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=473&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=20)) and saw a blurb for an OEM camera but no one knew anything about it. Perhaps you can go to that thread and update it with some additional information?

LordCash..is the ceramic tint just more durable or better at heat reduction
I will have to tint my car in florida..just no way to survive IMHO without it
My 530i is tinted the guy who tinted has tinted 2 of my cars...the 530i was done by a previous employee who applied a slightly darker tint to the front than "legal" but you cant really tell..never been stopped by a law enforcement officer

Ceramic tints also don't interfere with cell phone signals as much as regular tints.

It is fairly durable, is definitely better at heat reduction (pretty much tops among the film types), and as already been mentioned, won't interfere with electronics like cell phones (got it), radar detectors (got it), comfort access (got it), or sattellite radio (got it). If you search you will see that some people get metallic tint and don't suffer ANY of these interference problems. But other people definately DO suffer these problems. So since I use ALL the things that potentially could be disrupted (whether a little or a lot), I decided to err on the side of caution and get the tint that I wouldn't have to worry about at all.
I have ZERO complaints with my tint choice and with the pros at RMT that installed it. Once you get the tint, you will probably find, like I did, it is so much better than you expected. I continue to be amazed at what a seemingly small change can do both in terms of appearance (cool) and in comfort (cooler!)
