We seem to be attracting a decent number of new members, but they don't seem to be posting - or if they do, not for very long. What can we do, if anything, to encourage posting/participation by new members on an ongoing basis?

Are most forum newbies looking for a specific problem to be solved or something else? Is there some small percentage of forum members that continue long term and our 100 odd members aren't making critical mass?

Has anyone else thought about this? Ideas or comments?

I think they are all the bf.c ringers who are vigilantly waiting for the signal to give us a good DNS welcome to the Internets.

I agree that a good number of our first 100 were. I think most of the last 20 or so probably are not. For example, flpnout - a few relevant posts, then gone. That's the type I'm talking about. 6dinan seems to be the most recent member that has some staying power.

Maybe I'm pissing in the wind, but we do need (IMO) new blood for the long term. I'm thinking out loud as to what, if anything, we can do to encourage it. It probably is a numbers game and we are not at - or even close -to those numbers yet.

:stupid:

I would imagine that the powers that be over at BF.c have long forgotten about us; as we them! I admit that in the early stages, I used to go over there and sneak a peak from time to time, but I can honestly say that i have not been there for a few months now. No regrets, but I think we do need to keep things fresh over here and a little new blood could do just that.

I have recruited a bit for KotR over at e60.net. There are a few folks asking E63/E64 questions. I told them THE best source of 6er info was knightsoftheroundel.com.

I visited the other site yesterday. It looks like most of the questions are about oversize wheels and lowering the car plus a bunch of people with real problems who never get any answers any more. Although Gene occasionally ventures a guess (which is always incorrect).
