I was fortunate to get them from Bear and they had only about 8K miles or so on them. And I got them for a good price. I can't complain :)

They actually had under 5k on them. The car doesn't even have 8K on it yet! And during the first 4k I didn't really "drive" the car, so I hardley ever used the brakes. Now I drive the hell out of it! Woo Hoo!

:greenlaff:

My mistake! :)

In any event, they are pretty much "new" for most purposes and they look great!

Thanks again for the good deal, btw!

BTW was there any weight difference between the M6 and 650i rotors ? I feel the M6s' are abit heavier coz bigger ?

I didn't think to have the shop weigh them, so I can't say for sure. But - yes, I would agree that the M6 brakes are likely heavier. Both the rotors and the calipers are larger, so I would assume you are correct. The M6 rotors do have holes in them but I suspect the net result is still more mass (and weight) for the M6 brakes.

But, I can tell you that I have more than offset that via the M6 wheels and non RFT tires. They weigh less than 50lbs each. My OEM wheels (which I later sold) and RFT tires weighed in at a hefty 82lbs each (yes, I know the exact number because I foolishly underestimated the weight and ended up having to "eat" about $120 in extra shipping costs over what I charged the guy on eBay for shipping!!!!). So while my acceleration might have "slowed" down by a factor of .005 for the extra weight of the M6 brakes, I am back in positive territory with the ~100lb weight reduction due to the wheel/tire swap!

Thanks for the details !

In my case, both the BBS and PS2 tire weigh around 60lbs each, so I end up saving ~76lbs of the total car weight, but your case is better, you ended up saving ~132lbs of the cars total weight ! Thats cool.

Knowing the rotors weight is much more important than the calipers. Even if the calipers are extremely heave, they dont effect much coz they dont add up "rotational weight", but the rotors do :)
