View Full Version : Zymol vs Zaino ?!
Ok guy's you all seem to be going mad for this Zaino's polish and my Zymol wax is just about finished. My question is ...
Is Zaino's that good, I love the Zymol but you all rave about the Zaino's and its a hell of alot cheaper ...
Zainos polish is $16ish
Zymol wax is $190.00
Has anyone used both? is the money better off in my pocket than rubbed onto my car ??
its all do-do :sht:
just get yourself some pure brazilian caruba wax, its the best wax possible and very cost effective, just involves lots of elbow grease!!!...and in between the bi-annual waxing, use a liquid spray-on monthly like liquid diamond from simonize, this combo cant be beat for the ultrawet look!!

For the past 2 years, I've used Zaino on the 6er and for 3 years, Souveran carnauba on the 7er. I believed, until I got my black GL450, that carnauba looked better on dark colors. My experience is that Zaino provides a longer lasting shine and beads water longer than carnauba. Now, having done a full Zaino on the GL, I'm convinced Zaino looks better on dark colors as well.
I do a full 3 coats of Zaino every 6 months. On the 7er, I was waxing with Souveran every 6 weeks or so. True, it takes less time to do a carnauba wax than a Zaino coat - but in the long run, using Zaino is more efficient. Especially now that Z-CS is out. It really makes a dark color brilliant when applied over Zaino.
Don't do anything drastic. I believe Bear would like to respond to this thread, but he is currently traveling to the mid-West. Our weather got him a little depressed.
From what I have seen of his :bmw: and well as his :bugs: , he is the expert at this sh!t.

$16 for Zaino isn't really accurate. At a minimum, you will need Z2, Z-FX, Z6 and Z-CS (optional, but worth it IMO) for a total of ~$75. These items should last 2-3 years for applications on a single car.

I used to use Zymol, and thought it was great! It is good, but not great! Zaino just seems to last longer than ANY product I have ever used. If you read some of my other posts in this section, you will get a good idea of what I think of Zaino. I am a major car show person, and have won more "best paint" and "best finish" awards in the past two years since I've been using Zaino than in all the shows I have entered in previously.
Sure, there is a slight learning curve to the Zaino system, but it is brief...and OH SO worth the results!
These pics were taken about 3-4 months after the first Zaino session done to my car. It was washed a few days before these pics were taken but other than routine washing...nothing else was done to it.

Zymol
Zymol is a GREAT product for those that think cost=quality.
I agree that carnauba wax is great on the Black (my wax was 56% Carnuba). I must say that Bear's car does look great. I think I will have to try Zaino's purely because curiosity killed the cat. I also need to get myself one of those water purifiers, as I hate the water dots that can end up wrecking the hard work!!!

And keep in mind...it's not so much the depth of shine and protection achieved...but how long it lasts. Most good quality products will look great right after the job is done. Zaino = longevity too!

Haven't tried Zymol. Used Zaino, but switched to using a Porter Cable orbiter and Menzerna polishes. A machine will always give better results than you can get by hand and can get out swirl marks and scratches. I describe the paint finish as buttery smooth and warm after going over it with the PC. Menzerna is some amazing stuff; Mercedes uses it at their factory, IIRC. I use Menzerna polish, glaze, then wax to top it off.
All this talk is making me want to do a full detail! First, we had unbearable heat all summer, now we're in a drought and I've been unable to do a detail. :shake:
