I know they are now X5 beater, but since you guys have loads of these over there would like your oppinion.

My wife has a Grand Cherokee 2004 at the moment. This is a second car to tow her horse trailor, (yes she's has horse and I have no money). We also have a 19 foot trailor we use to tour europe.

Jeep's are very good value in the UK when compared to say a Land Rover. We've had a test drive in 3.0 V6 CRD Limited so far. An equivalent priced Disco would be a very basic spec

Hey, your wife and I are related. I have horses and no money, too! I use the dually to tow the horse trailer.

Jeeps generally fare quite poorly in US reliability surveys, barely finishing ahead of, well, Land Rover. Ironically, these are the two most celebrated brands when it comes to off-road prowess. Having said that, I will offer that in the past I've driven my Jeeps (Cherokee and Grand Cherokee) off-road throughout Mexico without a problem. Now I'd choose some sort of Toyota product for such adventures for safety reasons. Jeeps, like all vehicles, are a lot more complex to repair these days.

An alternative we are just considering is a used Range Rover TD6.

A new Jeep or a used Range Rover????

It looks good but the quality isn't all that great. If you want to tow then get a F150! :youbet:

The wife had a Jeep Grand Cherokee when we met...what a POS. It rattled like a log wagon over every bump. Serious problems with the interior fit and finish...

I sold my Grand Cherokee with 70k on the clock to a friend. He's now an ex-friend  :chophead: :electric:

We've had one problem with our Grand Cherokee, the gearbox. This eneded in us having a new gearbox under warranty. Otherwise it's been OK. It has had an easy life though, e.g. I don't drive it often...

I do fancy a Range Rover though. The air suspension in particular.

For towing, it's hard to beat a nice Ford F-250 Diesel. It works GREAT for me!

We have Jeep in Down Under. They are reasonably popular cars.

Well we've bought a Range Rover and traded the Jeep. We should collect next weekend. It's a 2004 Vogue Td6 in Adriatic Blue with Parchment Leather with blue piping. Pictures to follow.

Why am I more excited than when I got the 6er? It's not even my car. :-?
