As many of you know, I am getting married in September.
I will be in Los Angeles for 4 days (Starting the 17th) coming back from my honeymoon, at which point I plan to meet with Bear and Mal (and any other fellow knight who wants to join) for "spiced up foo fo drinks" :drunk: and for them to know that I am really a pimpled face snot nosed punk. :shades:
I want to rent a convertible for those days and here are my choices:
- BMW Z4
- MB SLK350
- Porsche Boxter
- AUDI A4 Cabrio.
(I have three other choices for sedan, but I am not interested) :sleep2: .
Any suggestions on which one to take?
I'm leaning towards the SLK...I haven't driven one yet. :race:

Any of those cars will make you essentially invisible in L.A. The largest of the group is the A4. The SLK could be a lot of fun if the weather is good. If it isn't then you will want the A4.
Why is a wonderful woman such as your fiancee interested in marrying a snot-nosed punk? :dunno:

I don't have anymore convertible options...unless you decide to lend me your rattlebox!!!
About your question (you forgot pimple faced)...hmmm, :sad3: I don't know. You should ask her yourself!!! :angelic:

If you are planning on having more than your toothbrush and a small bag of money with you, I would go for the Audi. The other choices sound a bit cramped. Plus, the Audi probably had the nicest interior, which will come in handy for those times when you are sitting in traffic on the 405 for three hours at a time.

You're kidding...right Bear?...how's traffic really over there?
I've been to LA a couple of times and have always been pasenger, so I have never noticed believe it or not. Suggestions on that would also be appreciated!

Well, since you will have two people in the car most of the time, you will be able to take advantage of the diamond lanes but in general, the traffic in LA can be fierce during rush hour times or if there is an accident on the freeways. When visitors to the LA area ask us locals "How long does it take to get to_ _ _ ?" We have to always qualify by asking' "At what time of day?"
For fun...check out this website every once in a while until you get here...

Congratulations. As for which convertible out of the four, I would pick the Z4, then the SLK350, then the Boxter, in that order.

Thanks guys!
Bear - Thanks for the website. It must be around 4:35AM in LA right now. A lot of green and blue dots...I think we will do our tours at this time...
I'm thinking of taking her to Disneyland on the 18th or the 19th. She's never been there, so I guess we will have to start our drive there early.
Oz - I have driven the Z4 before and I want to try something different. Have you driven an SLK yet? ...
bdaw - Thanks for the info. They actually have pretty good rates. Fortunately, I found a great deal at the Four Seasons where the rental car is included (I just hope they have navigation), so that's why I am limited in choices, but happy whith the savings :100: .
Maybe you can join us in our GTG - bdaw. Hoepfully Mal won't chicken out!

That should be easy. From the Bev. Hills area, you will probably just take the 10 East to the 5 south and you are there. It might be 35-40 miles which can take you 30 min with no traffic or 90 min with some traffic. If you want to take your new bride to a nice dinner while near the Disney parks, check out the White House. VERY NICE place. I've been there MANY times and NEVER had a bad meal. http://www.anaheimwhitehouse.com/

I resent that remark. If it's in Calabasas I don't chicken out.
You should not spend more than 1 day at Disneyland. It gets old after a while. (This includes the "California Adventure" park across the street.) Book a day at Universal Studios Tour, too, and buy the tickets that let you go to the front of the lines.

SLK is okay, but if you are carrying luggage around from the airport or whatever, hope you have bungy cords. If the top is down, you MIGHT fit a water bottle in the trunk.
A4 from here too...

That is a very good point Southener. Fortunately the car will be delivered to the hotel, so no luggage will have to be carried around. I have always liked AUDI, I think taking that would be a more practical approach...
Bear and bdaw - Just tell me the place and we can set up a time for the 17th or the 18th. Just one thing guys:
:megaphone: Can someone please convince Mal to show up?...I'm sure it won't be that much further from Calabasas.
