Just curious where folks got their nicknames/alias from.

Mine is the short version of abed'nego, which is one of the guys from the firey furnace in the bible (Meshach and Shadrach being the other two). Someone accused me of being Jewish once because of the name; I'm not, not that it matters, heh. But I am pretty conservative.

My nickname is BEAR (for obvious reasons)

Easy:
When I tried to register on BF.commercial about 1 year ago, my usual favorite forum nickname was already taken there.
So I had to look for an alternative, and I remember I just had the 6er brochure lying right next to the keyboard. So I've browsed in it hoping for some inspiration, noticed that GT term, found it a cool nick as well, tried to register with that one and ... voila.

I wanted to use my name in a SN, so I wouldn't get shortened into something less than appreciated. And, I used to do a radio show and DJ when I was in college. Thus, Mike_Check. :mrgreen:
