I'm not sure if any of you 6er owners are aware that there are some worthwhile mods for your cars. It doesn't matter which model you have. Here's a short list:

1. Pulley
2. ECU software
3. Differential

A few M5s in Dallas went mano-o-mano a few weeks back each with one of these mods on their car. Here is the thread: http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=99044. You'll be surprised who won. I certainly was.

I have been in contact with Evosport who makes the pulleys for the M5. I was told that they do have pulleys available for the 4.4 V8. I'm sure that they will have it for the 4.8 V8 as well. The ECU software for the 4.4 and 4.8 V8s are available from multiple vendors. My ECU was recently remapped by Singh Autosports in Fremont, CA. They use the same software as Superchips Uk. I'm sold on the remap. From what I understand it's a more aggressive remap than what Dinan has available and it's not going to blow up your engine. Cobradav has a list somewhere of all the vendors. Other than the 3.91 diff for the M6, the Dinan diff is available for 645/650 with SMG and 6speed.

I'm not too familiar with remapping. what do you normally expect when you do that. can you remove your limiter? improve MPG? HP boost? etc.

Hadn't considered doing a pulley on my new 645, but definitely agree the diff and software are probably best bang for the buck.

I would say the differential is the best bet. Trade some of the top end, which we never get to use in the US, for a much stronger pull on the low end.

Remember, Dinan's diff IS what we already have in the STEP. That diff that helps the manual/SMG folks is from our setup. The 3.91 is for the Ms

I realized I never came back to KOTR to correct some mis-information I was given. In speaking with various individuals at Evosport, there ISN'T a pulley available for the 4.4/4.8 engine. It's not possible due to the Vanos if I recall.
