Have to admit I haven't pulled the trigger and installed the MOST adapter for the iPod. Service department was giving me so much BS I decided to wait and see if the smoke cleared any on what had to be done.
What do you think this should cost to do?
1) I already own the glove box adapter from my '06 car
2) Know I need the MOST cabling run and labor to pull dash parts is involved
3) Big expense was supposedly the new software. As I have minor iDrive problems already that would warrant a free update I hate to pay for it. Of course, I'd hate to make two trips to the dealer too. Anyway, some people say that you just need to enable the feature in IDrive, not replace the software anyway.
Any recent experiences to share?

Bighat,
If I understand you correctly, you have an 07 650 without a CD changer. You also have a MOST adapter from your previous car.
The software update is free. So to speak. What BMW is charging you for is to configure iDrive so the CD changer option shows up. i.e. The iPOD adapter. When they do this they usually update the software while it is in the shop.
About $200-$300 for the cable and software tweaks should do the trick. But no more.

Thanks Chuck. You're correct. I have the glove box piece already ($300 I think). Going to start asking around at dealerships in the area.

:nono1: , the big expense is ripping the dash apart for connecting that 'CDC preparation' harness. Activating the CDC in the software is just a quick configuration job.
If the car is a 07 there's no immediate need for a PROGMAN upgrade, especially if those :loco: are going to charge for it. My adapter was installed under 23.01 and they charged less than an hour for the complete job including that harness.
Rather wait a couple of days after you got the car back, then return again and complain how disappointed you are about the "CD run-on" problem (=iPod keeping playing if you start the car with the audio system muted).
Then they'll have to upgrade the software to release 25.xx fixing that particular run-on issue under warranty.
