Hi -
I call them the ARMPIT LIGHTS. they are the white lights underneath the side mirrors on the car. You know, the ones you use to impress the ladies when you're approaching the car at night, and have hit the unlock button? Those.
How can I control how long they stay on? I went into iDrive and "Lighting" but all I saw was the blinker option and the "Pathway Lights". I assumed those were these. But they aren't I have them set to 77 seconds but my armpit lights only stay on for maybe 20 seconds.
I want them to stay on longer.
How?

The only way I know (and have done) to keep the puddle lights on longer (which is what they're really called!) is by clicking the open door button again.

I just checked my 6er and they go off almost synchronously as the interior lights do. Maybe if there was a way to adjust the interior lights timing? :dunno:
Hope this helps a little.

I'm sure his car does.

Sorry, Never. As you suspected there is no adjustment. I use the Mal technique. Usually I can place the key (non- comfort access) in my pocket so that I can hit the open button more or less undetected from outside my pants and keep pressing it about every 10 seconds keeping the lights lit until my lady is safely tucked inside. I do not let them start dimming before I hit open again.

From the manual,
Pathway lighting
After parking the vehicle and switching off the headlamps, operating the headlamp flasher
activates the low beams. You can set the duration on the Control Display or deactivate the
function.
This always confused me. Who assumes your path is always in front of the car? :dunno:

Ive always been shocked by the high number of things in this car that could be controlled by iDrive but simply aren't.
They have an entire section designated for "Lighting" settings and theyve got a whopping one or two things listed there.
Brilliant.

:agree: BMW just called me to be part of a focus group so maybe I'll bring that up.....

Agree with The Rocket Scientist. I also thought about this many months ago. Those armpit lights are so cool! White is the ideal colour. Have you thought about modifying them? Say, blue?
I touch the door handle, to activate them longer, using Comfort Access (apologies to Lord Pomposity who hates that term).
