You heard it here FIRST on KOTR.

July 05, 2007 (Computerworld) -- A noted Norwegian hacker claimed yesterday to have come up with a way to activate an Apple Inc. iPhone without committing to an AT&T wireless plan.

Jon Lech Johansen, better known as "DVD Jon" for his part in creating and releasing code in 1999 that broke DVD copy protection, has posted a Windows-only workaround he said lets iPhone owners use the device as a widescreen iPod and Internet communicator. The cracked iPhone can't be used as a phone, however.

You have gotten your iPhone to work in the 6'er? I have set up a BT phone but can't seem to add an iPhone to the car.

Just want ed to check in. Go the iPhone linked to the 6'er. Works better than my Blackberry. Entire phone book downloaded. I think I got over 700 numbers into the car. Works great.

Im unable to get the iPhone to work with the bluetooth. Can anyone help?

1) it asks me to enter a pin on the iphone.
2) bmw says device is trying to connect..... Approve or deny. I click approve.
3) bmw tells me to enter a numeric passphrase. No idea so i enter same one entered on phone.
4) click connect on phone. Phone tells me invalid pin.

I will try to pair my iPhone with my 6er tomorrow and let you know what happens. I rarely use the bluetooth stuff on the car, so I have never bothered to pair the iPhone up yet. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and report back.

1) When your iPhone ask you to enter a pin, enter a 4 digit number (could be anything), once you complete entering, make sure that you enter same number on your iDrive and then scroll up to press confirm key. You should be good to go after that. Good Luck! :thumb:

That's exactly what I described above. And it said Invalid Passphrase/Pin. They did match.

I just did it and it worked fine. It shows ALL the contacts and everything else too. Took me about a minute.

Sorry to hear that. Here are the steps that I took, to pair my iPhone:
1. iPhone - search for the device (your 6er)
2. When iPhone finds your 6er, go to iDrive and select "Start pairing".
3. On the iPhone, you will get prompted to enter PIN - enter any 4 digits. When complete, your iDrive will prompt to enter PIN there too. Enter same digits there. Be careful, when scrolling/selecting "confirm" pass key. Select "confirm" key and wait for system sync to complete.
Hope this helps,
