The Z-6 has a few uses. The main one being a QD (Quick Detailer) to be used in between washes. You also use it as a gloss lock when you are layering the Z2/Z5/ZFX system on your car (Z6 is used between layers of Z2 and Z5) On a black car, you really should end with Z5…then wait about 24 hours and add a coat of CS then the next day use Z8 which is different than Z6. You will be amazed at the reflective properties of your paint finish.
I use Z6 all the time. It has great cleaning properties in it that you will not find in the fancier Z8. They work well together, actually the whole Zaino system is designed to work together.
The biggest problems come to those that use TOO MUCH Zaino. Sal designed this stuff to be very economical so you don’t need much. If you do use too much, you will actually get WORSE results than when you use the correct, lesser amount.
I wouldn’t use that Z2. That is pretty old. It is called Z2 PRO now, and is even better than the old stuff. Your Z6 might still be ok as long as it has been closed up while in storage for so long. You should be able to QD your entire car (including the rims) with about ½ ounce of Z6.
I could go on and on, but the best thing for you to do would be to go to the Zaino website (http://www.zainobros.com). Sal has VERY detailed explanations and instructions for all the products. Once you familiarize yourself with them, let me know if you have any more questions.
And don’t overlook the towels and other applicators you use when detailing your car. Just like there are different products for different areas of your car, there are different types of applicators & towels for different tasks.
Having a black car is a lot of work, even if you have someone else wash and detail your car for you. You always need to be aware of your surroundings, since scratches, blemishes, and other imperfections will show up 100 times more on a black car than a lighter colored car. BUT…it is BY FAR the most rewarding color car to have if you keep up with it.
Silvers, grays and white painted cars are great colors for lazier people (I am sure I will never hear the end of that comment) but Dark colors (especially yours since it is non metallic) require constant care and diligence. So, if driving around in a black mirror gives you a thrill…then making sure you care for the car’s finish the right way will pay off ten fold!
