I'm for mods and all, but IMO 20" wheels is the max for the 5er and 21" wheel for the 6er. I remember the flack you got when you posted the 22" wheels on the 5er subforum. They flayed you. :P

22" are a must for a 7series,

Some 6Series suit 22" wheels but I feel that it is really important to get the right style to avoid looking like a cartoon, also 20" are extreme enough for me with the bad roads here!!

You have an x3 :loco: ... Do all your other cars laugh at it when your not looking... it's really an odd ball in your Ultimate collection... and it is ultimate

People always sleep on the X3, that is a fun factor car for real. You would be suprised. I jump in that little thing and go to the beach or around the city. I do in it what I can't do in the others and it is suited for that.

Plus it is kind of a fun project car for me to mess with. You won't see to many BMW X3's with a dvd player, 3 tv screens with direct tv, PS2, back up cam, sound system, rims, double sunroof, 6 sp stick, peppy lil 3.0 lt and some other stuff I am forgetting about.

Kids love that car I get more thumbs up from people in the X3 than the others when they see me bumpin down the street. It is a summer/beach car to me.

I have fun with it and it serves its purpose, it won't touch Bears V-Dubs but it will do for me for now.

6er, I heard that X3 comment :)

I also have an X3 and think it does what it was designed to do very well. It is my errand vehicle as well as my winter drive. Albeit, Charlotte had a whooping 2 days of bad weather this past winter. The X3 has enabled me to have the 650i and not feel limited in my "vehicular abilities" such as taking 4 on a business trip or vacation, transporting big stuff, and so on. Some folks like the X3 so well, they wonder why I spent the money on a 650i....

On topic, I'm not a fan of 22s on the 6er either. I think they look too big. Besides, some folks have had to raise the car or put spring spacers in to prevent rubbing issues with their 22s. My biggest complaint of the 650i is the ride. I test drove a 650i with 21 inch rims and it felt worse than the "hard as a rock" stock RFTs on 19s. I'd bet super heavy 22s would be even worse.

What I want on the 650i is the 19 inch M6 rims and a good set of Michelin PS2s or Goodyear F1 GSD3s. I just don't want to spend that kind of money at this time.

Thanks XMN.

I have also experience some bad riding cars on big rims. The whole thing to rims is the set up if you have somebody that does not know what they are doing and just slap on some big azz rims you will have all kinds of problems.

Where I go they have years of experience and ride is never given up for rims. People thought 22's on a 5 series was not possible those guys put them on with precision and even took it to BMW for adjustments. After a day in their shop my 5 came out with 22's and had no rubbing or no harsh ride issues it maintained the same luxurious flow it had with the stock rims and tires. But you are right it is expensive to get the set up you like.

I learned anything can be done when the RIGHT people do the job. We all have our preferences that is what makes this all great. Some people like rims, some don't. I know what I like, that is what matters most.

Because of demand, whether we as enthusiasts like it or not, select BMW's will start rolling off the line with 22's just like other car companies have done, it is a business. We are in the minority as enthusiast the general public always have their ear.

Have fun in your X3.
