Under the New 6 section, you can see a drawing of what maybe a hint at the design of the next 6 series. (I know that it looks a lot like the 3er coupe...)
Any opinion on this?

The 6er future will be even more impactful in '11. As for looking like the 3er, I stand on my original post on the other forum and now this one that the NEW Coupe 3er looks like our current 6er. So, that would mean the aggressive look will continue with the '11 version.

I can't wait. :woot:

hmmmm, those look like 22's, interesting. I think we need to move this thread to 22's on a BMW, heh heh.

I think the 6 series is in the toughest segment for BMW to compete. It is not a segment that BMW owns, like it does with the 3 series sedan/coupe or the 5 series sedan. Sporty GT cars and pure bred sports cars are all amongst its potential competitors. BMW will up the ante with the F-something 6er, without a doubt in terms of styling, power, dynamics, the whole box and dice. Buyers in this segment can be fickle (many of us here are) and have the cash to shop around.

My money is more on the CS Concept, which looks fantastic. That's got to be a strong styling hint. The sketch at the BMW NA site looks like the 3er, though nice.

My thought is that the CS will turn into either bringing back a new 8 series edition or be the new 5 series.

The 6 will be a lot smaller and sleeker

Interesting topic XMN. Sorry, I think the next 6 series will not be a lot smaller. Sleeker, we hope, but not smaller. The current E92 3 series is already perecived by many as a GT car. The very new 1 series coupe is the compact size BMW coupe (ignore the Z4 as that's a two seater roadster). So BMW coupes are now seen as compact (1er), medium (3er) and large (6er). The 6er currently shares the platform with the 5er (although BMW is very reluctant to quote that as a fact). Given the relatively smaller sales volume of the 6er (compared with other BMW models), it will not have its own uniquely developed platform due to economics. It's likely to be based on the next 5er, or maybe next 7er (which is where the CS Concept comes from). BMW's archenemy is Mercedes-Benz. The 6er is still a "smaller" car compared with the Merc's CL coupe and the CLS sedan. Audi and Lexus currently do not have large GT coupes. (The new A5 is up in arms with the E92). I think the next 6er will be similar in size to our current one, if not, then bigger. The future looks great!

Why would you expect such a hint to be released first on bmwusa.com? :dunno:

Agree with GT that styling hints will not come from BMWUSA. The Concept CS is as much as we will get directly from BMW.

As to size, I side with OzBoy. Maybe sleeker look, but still large, close to 4000 pound coupe. Vert in Hard or soft top (both offered?) hard to say. I do not think the E93 is particularly good looking top up, but top down is very nice. But the space penalty they pay - wow. Much prefer soft top as implemented on 6er.

If they take the same possible design lines from the upcoming 5 Series, we will see how smaller and sleeker it will be. Granted these are renderings and not written in stone but you see they could be taking it a size or two down and way sleeker.

I know exactly what the new 6er is going to look like...

It will be BIG-N-Heavy like my Dad's '67 Chevy!
