I will try to keep this updated as best I can. Only lists verified info.
Edited and updated 14 July 2010
I have also included the 1/3 series in a separate list.
5 series now includes the new F07 (GT) and F10.
The info coded in the vehicle used to be called Target Data Status and is now called Vehicle Data Status. It is the only reliable method BMW has to know what software teh vehicle has.
Starting in October 2008, BMW issued a new set of hardware to dealers for processing software upgrades. Along with the hardware change came a change in terminology/nomenclature for the software as well. The current name for what was PROGMAN is now ISTA/P. Both vehicle and system diagnostic software will come under this naming convention. My list will include the new naming convention. BMW distributed both PROGMAN and ISTA/P versions for a few months until all dealers were up and running on new hardware. Some dealers (SAs) are still not familiar with or even realize the change, hence some incorrect information is often given out concerning PROGMAN updates when it should be ISTA/P levels
You will notice an attempt by me to include the service bulletin info (SIBs) in the list of fixes when I know them. Since BMW quit issuing a separate SIB for the software updates with a list, this is as close as I can come to replicating such a list.
I'll have to add a bump post to may this appear in new posts.
BTW, there are quite a few F01/02 (new 7 series) SIBs out requiring software updates which is typical of first year models.
I am adding a copy of the new style Final Report and Measures Plan based on the new ISTA/P systems in BMW centers. A new feature is not only showing what previous and new software is loaded but also the as delivered version .
Thanks bdaw - big file loaded ok.
