Is it possible to enable subforms? The standard forum list is a bit long, and I could see perhaps segregating the "other" forums (1,3,5,X, etc.) into something a bit more, uh, segregated.

Just a thought.

This sounds good but I do not beleive the traffice will be that high in many areas. I would like to play it by ear and see how things progress and if there becomes a high volume of content in one or more areas, then we should consider sections within the top-level 1,3,5,6,7,Z,X,& the forth coming 2/4/V-Series.

I think there are way too many forums. Start with a half dozen or so forums and as they are active, expand and add others. But too many too soon makes the place look dead.

Is there really a need for Lemon Law Questions as a separate forum? No.

Pimp Your Six? Put that in the The "Washed" Unite! forum.

I could go on. JMHO.

That was basically my point. Too many top-level forums. :D

So where are we on this topic?

I think it is possible, but we have to figure out what the master forums would be, as well as the sub forums. Trying to come up with a logical "tree" is very important if we are going to try to change it from what it is now.

Bah. We're Internet-savvy. Just switch things around, see how they work out. If too many people complain, put 'em back. :) It's all good with phpbb. Should be fairly straightforward but I haven't used phpbb 3. Phpbb 2.xx didn't allow subforums without modifications, if I remember correctly.

Hmm, I am not sure if we can do it here with ver. 3 either.

I'll say it once (unless I say it again):

YOU SHOULDA USED VBULLETIN

OK, I feel better. I just don't like this layout. Avatars on the right. What are they smokin??

I can pretty much guarantee that vB will have an importer function to allow moving from phpbb to vB. The biggest problem you'll encounter is the smilie codes and the attachments, but those are circumeventablewrngel, er, you can get around those problems.

Bah, just ignore me. Most people do anyway. :headache:

One thing I really like about vB is that when you subscribe to a thread, it'll send you the entire reply in your "alert" email. It's handy when using a mobile device so you can just check out the email rather than going to the forum.

It's British software. They drive on the right so avatars are on the right? :dunno:

I don't know if this is where I post it, but I, too, am having a little problem following what I've previously read. For some reason, I can't tell which threads I've already read vs unread. vB does that well and I can scan real quickly. Don't get me wrong, I love the forums and it won't cause to move at all, but just noticed that the threads are easier to scan on a vB-driven forum. Thanks, John

John - There is a "new threads" selection that I use to follow everything. Works pretty well unless you post. If you don't post you can go back to the new post screen. If you post, you may need to start all over, but you can keep up pretty easily. Nevervana wants us all to start keeping track of what we want done and need to do on this website for software improvement purposes. So maybe we should have one thread with all the suggestions. I will start one and make it a stick. Which means I will have to take down Mike_Check's Cry Babies thread -- as a sticky.

So, everyone please contribute to the new sticky here.

Just have the Heading Forums up then you can click on them to get to the sub topics.

I am no pro like you guys but I think you get the picture, I did it in PowerPoint just to give the idea.

See attached; the opening page could be something like that. Just a humble suggestion.

I agree... lets cut 1/2 the forums out for now..... and add them as we "grow" I find myself posting less... as we just left a 6 series board that only had one place for us to post... as of now... A "general 6er forum", "Introduce Yourself" i think could possibly be the ONLY 2 that we need at this time...

This way we can keep a close group of people..... close. I feel much more distant to all the regulars now.... cobra, and Mals smart ass comments i seem to miss as i have to look around for them..

I say chop 80% of the groups, and add them as we need them...
